Every four years, Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) which are designated as Transportation Management Areas (TMAs,) must undergo a federal review to determine if federal planning requirements are being met to ensure that federal transportation funding continues to flow to the region. PSRC is designated as a TMA, and the previous TMA Certification Review was completed in 2018.

In July 2022, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will review the PSRC regional transportation planning process. To help conduct the review, FHWA and FTA are soliciting public feedback and comments on PSRC and its planning efforts.
